Fundraising: Community Supporters
HomeBridge
would like to acknowledge the extraordinary community groups and
organizations that have partnered with HomeBridge to provide outstanding
programs and opportunities to youth at-risk in need of support.
Rainbow Haven
For the last two years, Rainbow Haven Opportunities Fund has provided
summer camping experiences for the young people in our care.
Last summer, fourteen youth attended Camp Victoria in Lake Echo,
and participated in camp activities including; horseback riding,
canoeing, fishing, art classes, and nature hikes. In addition,
four young people attended a full day basketball camp, facilitated
by the coach of the Dalhousie Tigers basketball team. It was truly
a memorable time for everyone.
Thank you for recognizing the impact camping experiences provide
for the young people in our care. We truly value your support.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement facilitated Business Basics, and the Economics
of Staying in School program to the students in the Bridges for
Learning program during the 2005/2006 school year. Thank you Junior
Achievement for your support, and we look forward to working together
in the 2006/2007 school year.
Youth Employability Project (YEP)
YEP facilitated employment workshops from February 2006 until
June 2006. Workshops included, but were not limited to, interview
skills, job searching, and resume writing. Thank you YEP for your
support, and ongoing commitment in preparing the youth at HomeBridge
for the workforce.
We would also like to thank the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education
and Development (CEED) for their phenomenal Business for a Day
program.
Art Gallery of Nova Scotia
The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has encouraged and developed numerous
programs with community organizations for children and youth of
all ages. We are proud to say that HomeBridge Youth Society is
one of those organizations.
Since 2004, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has hosted HomeBridge’s
annual youth art exhibition, known as Expressions. Expressions
is a community funded visual arts program that has reached over
450 youth at-risk throughout the HomeBridge community.
Our partnership has not only given our youth an avenue to display
their talent, it has connected them with their community. It is
our hope that the youth who participate in this program will continue
to connect with the gallery and their community, long after their
time with us at HomeBridge.
Working together to build stronger, healthier communities for
today’s youth.
HomeBridge would also like to extend a sincere thank you to;
Department of Community Services, Community Mobilization Program,
Department of Education, Halifax Regional School Board (HRSB),
Halifax Regional Police (HRP), Atlantic Media Institute, Federal
Homelessness Initiative, Phoenix Youth Programs, Neptune Theatre
School, Bridgeway Academy, and the Office of the Ombudsmen, for
all you have done.
