Making Spirits Bright

Community support makes our Holidays of Hope Campaign possible

The past couple of years have tested us in ways we never could have imagined.  Nova Scotians, however, have proven to not only be “Nova Scotia Strong” but also some of the most kind and generous people around.  Whether it’s a pandemic, a hurricane, or whatever challenge we face, our friends and neighbours seem to always be looking out for each other.  We are hoping that kindness continues as we start making plans for the young people who will be waking up Christmas morning in the HomeBridge Community.

Together we can make this holiday season more hopeful for a group of young people who need to be reminded that someone cares.  Some may be able to go home for a night, some may be able to go home for a meal, but many will not be able to be with family at all this Christmas.  The sad reality is as many as 40 young people live in the HomeBridge Community at any given time and the holidays are no different.  This can be a very sad and upsetting time for them.  We can’t change the circumstances that brought them to be in our care, but with your help we can definitely show them they matter and are not forgotten.

Thanks to the kind hearted souls who donate, our Holidays of Hope Campaign has brought the magic back to this special time of year.  We decorate our homes, hang stockings, make gingerbread houses and try to fill the days with festive activities and positive experiences that make the season meaningful to each and every young person in our care.  Thank you to everyone who has been part of this meaningful campaign in the past. We are hoping this year you too will join our team of magic elves and help us create a season to remember.

With a minimum donation of $25 you can purchase a stocking so every young person wakes up to something just for them on Christmas morning.  The first goal of this campaign is always to fill 40 stockings, but if we surpass that goal we can continue to spread the magic throughout the rest of the year.  All money raised will help to create positive experiences for our residents this Christmas as well as supporting the celebration of other meaningful holidays that reflect various cultures and traditions throughout the year. If you would like further information on the Holidays of Hope Campaign and how you can become part of the magic, please contact Renee Stevens at (902) 466-1439 ext 234 or rstevens@homebridgeyouth.ca.
