Progress Club Charity Golf Classic

Sep 19, 2025

Golfing for Vulnerable Youth

We were very excited to be part of the Canadian Progress Club, Halifax Citadel’s Charity Golf Classic this year.  It was their first year at River Oaks Golf Club and the golfers came out in full support.  This sold out event helped them raise money to support charities around Nova Scotia that support women and children, and HomeBridge was incredibly grateful to be one of them.

The Progress Club has been supporting HomeBridge in different ways for well over a decade, but this was the first time we have been involved in the golf tournament. “Team HomeBridge” represented us and had a great time, enjoying all of the fun attractions at every hole. The event included a silent auction, a draw for two West Jet tickets for anywhere in North America, and tons of prizes.

The $5,000 donation HomeBridge received from this fundraiser will support the Expressions Program of the Arts. This therapeutic. Life-skill building program offers every young person in the HomeBridge Community the opportunity to express themselves through Art Classes, Music Therapy and Photography lessons.  Through these sessions our skilled facilitators create safe, creative environments where the young people can externalize difficult emotions, explore identity, and process trauma at their own pace. These expressive modalities tap into the innate human drive to create and connect, which is particularly valuable for youth who have felt voiceless or powerless. Through artistic exploration, they gain agency over their stories, develop self-awareness, and begin to reframe their sense of self in more positive, hopeful terms.

This meaningful program has a very positive impact on the vulnerable youth served in the HomeBridge Community and it would not be possible without the support of donors like the Canadian Progress Club, Halifax Citadel.  We are extremely grateful for their continued support.
