Working Through the Pandemic

Mar 16, 2023

Support from the Canadian Red Cross

Support comes in many different forms.  When you work or live in a congregate living setting at a time when COVID-19 is still a reality, essential support can even look like PPE and antigen rapid test kits.

The Canadian Red Cross and their “Stop the Spread and Stay Safe” program have been supplying HomeBridge with KN95 masks and COVID-19 rapid test kits for well over a year now.  This has allowed us to offer everyone in the HomeBridge Community two regular testing days per week to help determine when anyone is ill with the virus and masks to help reduce the spread of germs.  This has been an incredibly helpful resource as we continue to do our very best to keep everyone safe and healthy and maintain operations despite staffing shortages in the industry.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been carefully monitoring the progression of the situation and closely following the advice of public health authorities.  We followed their recommendations and implemented numerous changes in the HomeBridge Community over the past couple of years.  Since congregate living settings are still considered “high risk”, we continue to take every measure possible to support our employees as well as the young people.

The Canadian Red Cross is now wrapping up their support programs, but they are ensuring organizations, like HomeBridge, are still supported by distributing a final shipment of supplies.  We are extremely grateful for the resources they have provided and feel confident the supplies they have donated to us will allow us to keep up our safety practices for quite some time.  On behalf of everyone in the HomeBridge Community, we thank them for this meaningful support.
